Charitable Health Coverage update

The Kaiser Permanente Community Heath Access Program (CHAP) provides health coverage for over 6,000 adults and dependent children who don’t have access to other health coverage. CHAP members receive financial help to pay their monthly premiums and have no out-of-pocket costs for most care at Kaiser Permanente facilities.
In August, members will receive a packet in the mail, asking them to reapply for CHAP and requesting information. To remain in CHAP after December 31, 2020, we must confirm that the member still meets the eligibility requirements of the program.
If the CHAP member does not reapply by October 1, they will keep their health coverage, but will be responsible for paying the full monthly premium and all out-of-pocket costs (for example, copayments and coinsurance) starting January 1, 2021, unless they contact us by November 30, 2020 to cancel their health coverage.
We will be partnering with several community partners to help support this reapplication process.

  • October 1- Reapplication ends (if a reapplication extension is granted, the reapplication period will reopen on November 1 to December 15)
